Towards the front.

Away from the head.

Away from the midline of the body.
What does proximal mean?
Towards the attached end of the limb, origin of the structure or midline of the body.
What does distal mean?
Away from the attached end of the limb, origin of structure or midline of the body.
What does superficial mean?
External - located close to or on the body.
What does deep mean?
Internal - located beneath the body surface and further than the superficial structures.

What does thoracic mean?
Is a regional term referring to the portion of the body between the abdomen and neck aka the chest/thorax.
What does lumbar mean?
Is a regional term referring to the portion of the back between the pelvis and abdomen.

The top surface of feet/hands.
What does palmar mean?
The anterior/ventral surface of the hands.

A longitudinal line that divides the body into right and left.

A longitudinal section that divides the body into anterior/posterior parts.
