Lab Exercise 4 Flashcards
Look through to make observations; magnifies the image 10x
Eyepiece (ocular lense)
Rotates objective lenses into position to achieve different magnifications
Rotating nosepiece
Scanning, low-power, and high-power lenses that magnify the image of an object as it projects light upward on to the body tube
Objective lenses
Platform that holds the microscope slide
Stage
Secures the microscope slide onto the mechanical stage
Stage Clips
Concentrates and focuses the amount of light onto the microscope slide
Condenser
Opens and closes the diaphragm, which adjusts the intensity of light entering the condenser, provides ability to control image contrast
Iris diaphragm lever
Lamp that allows light to enter the condenser, objective lens, and eyepiece
Illuminator
Turns on the light bulb
Illuminator switch
Rests on flat surface and supports the microscope.
Base
Located between the eyepiece and rotating nosepiece provides support and path for light.
Arm and Body Tube
On vertical side of the microscope, connects base and body; used to help carry the microscope
Arm
Used to get the image in focus under scanning or low power objective
Coarse Adjustment Knob
Fine tuning the focus of the image under high-power objective
Fine Adjustment Knob
