58 middle class and w/c boys, from Chicago aged 7-16 were given a two interviews with 10 dilemmas (Heinz dilemma)

younger boys tended to perform better at stages 1 and 2
older boys 3 and 4
no support for stage 6

what are the conclusions?
A
the evidence does support the idea of a stage theory , more recent thorton and reid with criminal sample suggest that criminals committing crime for financial gain show more immature reasoning than those committing violent crimes
