What is Hydrocortisone?
A
A Glucocorticoid drug that restores blood pressure, blood sugar, cardiac synchronicity and volume. Also dampens the bodies immune response to reduce itching, swelling and pain.

Indications?
A
Severe or life threatening asthma.
Anaphylaxis.
Adrenal Crisis - (associated with long term steroid therapy)

Contra-indications?
A
Known allergy

Cautions?
A
None relevant to single dose

Dosage and Administration?
A
For adrenal crisis or asthma a single dose, 100 milligrams for adult and for anaphylaxis 200 milligrams.

Route?
A
Intravenous - slow injection over two minutes
