What is Aspirin?
A
An everyday pain killer for headaches, toothaches, period pain.

What is the route?
A
Oral: Dispersible or chewable

Dosage and Administration?
A
300 milligram tablet (maximum)

What are the indications?
A
Clinical or ECG evidence of Myocardial Infarction or Ischaemia

What does it do?
A
It has an anti-platelet action which reduces clot formation

Contra-Indications?
A
- Known aspirin allergy
- children under 16
- active gastrointestinal bleeding
- haemophilia or other known clotting disorders
- severe hepatic failure with jaundice

Aspirin may be given to patients with:
A
Asthma, pregnancy, renal failure, moderate hepatic disease without jaundice, gastric or duodenal ulcer, current treatment with anticoagulants
