Indications?
A
- Cardiac chest pain due to Angina
- Myocardial infarction when systolic blood pressure is greater than 90mmHg.
- Breathlessness due to pulmonary oedema in acute heart failure.

What is GTN?
A
A potent vasodilator drug resulting in dilation of veins and arteries = reduced blood pressure

Contra-Indications?
A
Hypotension where systolic blood pressure is < 90mmHg or < 110mmHg in acute heart failure

Route?
A
Sublingual tablet or spray to be administered under patients tongue.

Dosage and Administration
A
Adult > 18 only.
For spray: 400-800 micrograms (one or two sprays), repeat after 5-10 minutes. No limit except for acute heart failure when it is 6 sprays.
