What is Entonox?
Pain relieving gas mixture, 50% oxide, 50% oxygen. Stored in metal cylinders with blue body and white shoulders
Indications?
Moderate to Severe Pain, labour pains.
Dosage and Administration
Administered via facemask or mouthpiece after suitable instruction. 3-5 minutes before maximum effect acheived. Suitable for children provided they are capable of following the instruction and can activate the demand valve
Contra-Indications?
If patient has or is suspected of having closed body cavities containing air. This can include patients with severe head injurys and possible intracranial air, decompressions sickness, violent psychiatric patients, intraocular injection of gas within the last eight weeks, abdominal pain where intestinal obstruction is suspected
Caution
Penetrating torso injury
