Human Destiny - Human purposes Flashcards
What existed when Allah created Adam?
The angels existed. This included the jinn, Iblis.
How are Jinn different to angels?
They have free choice but the angels do not
Through the creation what purpose was Adam given?
He was given a purpose for existence and this is given to all humans who came after Adam
What was Adam and what does this mean for humans?
As a vice regent, so humans are on earth to rule the earth on behalf of God and make the earth the sort of place God wants it to be. Humans have to be responsible for this earth and care for this.
What do vice regents need to understand?
That all things on this earth are unified and this shows God’s unity. It is for humans to realise this and know it.
What roles do the angels play with the purposes of Adam?
Adam’s purpose is that the angels must prostrate (bow down) to him
How does free will link into Adam’s purposes?
Adam’s purpose on earth was to be free to love or disobey Allah. Therefore human purpose is to choose to love or disobey Allah.
What does Iblis do?
Is given permission by Allah to tempt humans on earth and in doing so Allah shows his compassion as he is giving people free will and the choice to disobey.
What did Adam have to do to the angels? How does this link to another purpose?
Teach the angels the names of everything and adam’s purpose on earth was to have knowledge and to be able to teach this knowledge through the generations on earth.
How has Allah created Adam and every other human being?
As an individual who can seek spiritual self awareness
Who do humans need to know?

Give the quote which shows how Allah taught Adam the names.
