Hemolymphatic system Flashcards
SCID
Arabs- foals have mutations in DNA-PKcs no B or T cells
Dogs- Mutations in DNA-PKcs and cytokine receptor gene mutations as well as signal transduction pathways inhibited
Causes of lymphoid necrosis
-Parvoviruses
-Bovine virus diarrhea virus
-Porcine circovirus-associated diseases
-Canine distemper virus
Parvovirus
Affinity for rapidly dividing cells like intestinal crypt epithelium and hemomyelolymphatic cells. Leads to immunosuppression and secondary infections
Causes of lymphoid hyperplasia
-Antigenic stimulation
-EIA
-Gamma herpesvirus
-Theilaria
-Porcine repro and respiratory syndrome
Lymphadenopathy causes
-Hyperplasia
-Lymphadenitis
-Neoplasia
-Edema
Suppurative lymphadenitis causes
-Pyogenic bacteria: Strept. equi, S, porcinus, T. pyogenes, Corynebacterium pseudotuberculosis
Pyogranulomatous lymphadenitis
Rhodocoosu equi
Pyogranulomatous lymphadenitis
R. equi
Granulomatous lymphadenitis
M. avium and bovis
Fungi
Lymphangitis
Usually secondary to LN
Paratuberculosis in cattle and FIP in cats
Rhodococcus equi
-Primary respiratory infection
-Half develop enteric disease
-Lymphadenitis of bronchial/ mediastinal, mesenteric, and colonic LN
Lymphosarcoma in cats
Commonly associated with Feline Leukemia virus and FIV is a risk factor
