Increase fibre and fluids
Use damp toilet paper
Warm bath - ease pain and itch
Gently push them back inside
Avoid alcohol and caffeine
Don’t ignore urge to go
Don’t strain
Don’t use constipating medication.
Avoid NSAIDs if bleeding.
Don’t sit on toilet for ages.
Haemorrhoids OTC treatment
Cream/ointment - apply in morning, night, and after each bowel movement. Contains zinc oxide (shrinks) and lidocaine (anaesthetic)
Suppositories - morning and night. contains lidocaine to relieve pain.
Laxatives if constipated
Haemorrhoids referral
Worsening symptoms
>7 days of treatment
Recurrent
Systemic symptoms
