A
  • Americans were not able to afford things from German factories, so they went bankrupt and had to close down
  • America stopped loaning money to germany (Dawes plan 16 aug. 1924)
    America also demanded their money back –> Germany went bankrupt
  • The German people began to look to extremists

-Hitler was worried that Ernst Rohm (leader of SA) was going to over power him, and become dictator himself
- the army also didn’t like the SA and Hitler wanted the army on his side
- he also wanted to show the Germans the brutality of the attack to make them fear the Nazis
