GenBioFinal - mitosis Flashcards
Interphase G1
cell growth and metabolism following mitosis and cytokinesis
Interphase G0
the cell differentiates and becomes a specific cell
ex: a heart cell
Interphase S
DNA replication
Interphase G2
cell growth and metabolism leading up to mitosis and cytokinesis
Mitosis Prophase
nucleus and ER fragment, DNA condenses into chromosomes, centrosomes move towards poles of the cell
Mitosis Prometaphase
centrosomes reach poles of the cell and begin fishing for kinetochores
Mitosis Metaphase
all kinetochores are captured by microtubules and the chromosomes are lined up along the midline (equator) of the cell
Mitosis Anaphase
sister chromatids are pulled to opposite ends of the cell
Mitosis Telophase/Cytokinesis
sister chromatids reach the centrosomes and decondense. the nuclear membrane and ER reform. the cytoplasm is divided and two daughter cells are produced
