Where is the fuel stored ?
In the wings, centre tanks, and Additional Centre Tank (ACT)
What is vent surge tank ?
Locate outboard of each wing tank and is used for fuel expansion due to heat
How the main fuel pump system work ?
The engines are supplied from wing tanks only, 2 pump on each wing tank.
Fuel in the centre tank is transfer to wink tank through jet pump.
What is Engine LP valve function ?
Cut off fuel flow to the engine
How can crew close the Engine LP valve ?
-ENG MASTER switch
-ENG FIRE PUSH pb
What is the function of Suction valves ?
Allow engine to be fed from wing tanks by gravity.
(Closed by pump pressure during normal operation)
What is the fuel feed sequence ?
ACT-Centre tank-Wing tank
How is the fuel tranfered from centre tank to wink tank ?
When transfer valve open, fuel from wing tank flow through the jet pump and creat suction in it, which draw the fuel from centre tank into wing tank.
Which computer control the transfer valve ?
The Fuel Level Sensing Control Unit (FLSCU)
What is the centre tank transfer valve control logic ?
FLSCU close the valve when wing tank is full; reopen when 250kg of wing tank fuel is used (fuel level reach the underfull sensors)

What need to be kept in mind when MODE SEL is in manual ?
Monitor wing tank fuel level, close the tranfer valve by push CTR TK XFR pb when wing tank is full, or centre tank is empty.
When will ACT fuel transfer occur ?
After takeoff at slats retraction, if centre tank high level sensor is dry > 10min and ACT not empty.
How is fuel is transfer from ACT to centre tank ?
Via pressurization of the tank by closing ACT vent valve and open air shutoff valve.
How to tranfer fuel from ACT to centre tank manualy ?
Select ACT pb to FWD
How to prevent centre tank overflown while manualy transfer from ACT ?
Select ACT pb to AUTO when centre tank is full.
Can fuel be supply to APU when loss of tank pump or loss of normal AC power ?
Yes, by a special pump, which run off the AC ESS SHED or AC STAT INV BUS if AC ESS SHED failed.
What is automatic refueling sequence?
Fuel goes into ACT,Centre tank, Wing tank simultaneously (if fuel exceed wing tank,if not fill wink tank only)
What is manual refueling sequence ?
Fill wing tanks first, then centre tank, then ACT
What may stop the automatic refueling process ?
Electrical transients (cause by switching btw APU, external and engine electrical supply)
Where are the refueling point ?
Under the right wing
(also left if installed)
Can the a/c be refuel with only battery power ?
YES
How long does it take for refueling ?
- 17 min for wink tanks
- 20 min for all tank (without ACT)
- 25 min with 1 ACT
- 27 min with 2 ACT
What is the function of Fuel Quantity Indication ?
-FQI transmit fuel mass and temp of fuel in the tank to ECAM
-Control automatic refueling

What do you do if fuel is over read after take off ?
This is normal due to acceleration, wait max 6 min before troubleshooting

-Control fuel transfer btw wing and centre tank, centre tank and ACT
-Control IDG cooling recirculation
When will LO LVL warning appear on ECAM ?
When fuel quantity in one wing tank goes below 750kg
What is the purpose of Fuel Tank Inerting System ?
Reduce the flamability in the centre fuel tank
Do wing tanks have Fuel Tank Inerting system ?
No
How does Fuel Tank Inerting System work ?
The system produce an oxygen-depleted air that goes into the centre tank instead of ambient air.

When is fuel transfer from ACT to centre tank automatically ?
- A/C in flight
- Slats retract
- ATC low level sensor is wet
- Centre tank high level sensor is dry for 10 min
Transfer stop when one of the condition is not met

Centre tank has < 3000kg of fuel and 1 ACT has more than 250 kg of fuel

How does fuel temperature indication on the ECAM FUEL page work ?
This appear when temp sensors are wet.
Advisory appear only on phase 2 and 6 when fuel temp
-Abv 45⁰C
-Blw -40⁰C
What does an amber line across the last two digits of the fuel quantity mean ?
the FQI is inaccurate

The refuelling control pannel door is not closed
Can fuel be transferred from one tank to another ?
Only during ground refueling
What does an amber half boxed ECAM FOB indicate ?
Some fuel is unusable

Without ACT: 18.6
1 ACT: 20.9
2 ACT: 23.2
