Eyes Flashcards
Margins of Orbit
frontal
maxillary
zygomatic
Walls of Orbit are formed by:
zygomatic, palatine, maxillary, lacrimal, ethmoid, frontal, sphenoid
Foramen/Canals of Orbit
optic canal
superior orbital fissure
inferior orbital fissure
Optic Canal
contains CN2
Superior Orbital Fissure
contains CN3,4,6 and CN5 (V1 opthalmic)
Inferior Orbital Fissure
contains CN5 (V2-maxillary)
Muscles of Eye Innervated by CN3 (oculomotor)
superior rectus inferior rectus medial rectus inferior oblique Levator palpebrae superioris
Superior Rectus
elevation
I-CN3 (oculomotor)
Inferior Rectus
depress
I-CN3 (oculomotor)
Medial Rectus
adducts eyes
I-CN3 (oculomotor)
Inferior oblique
elevate and adduct eyes
I-CN3 (oculomotor)
Levator palpebrae superioris
elevates superior eyelid
I-CN3 (oculomotor)
Muscles of Eye Innervated by CN4 (trochlear)
superior oblique (depress and adducts)
Muscles of Eye Innervated by CN6 (abducens)
lateral rectus (abducts eye)
Ophthalmic Artery
branch of ICA
-central atery of retina, travels in optic nerve
Conjunctiva
transparent layer that covers the anterior eye that is continuous with conjunctiva in inner etelid.
Sclera
covers posterior 5/6 of eyeball (white portion)
Cornea
covers anterior 1/6 of eyeball
Choroid
in middle layer (vascular layer) of eye, lines most of sclera
Ciliary Body
connects choroid with iris, secretes aqueous humor (fills anterior&posterior chambers)
Anterior Chamber
space between cornea and iris/pupil
Posterior Chamber
space between iris/pupil and lense/ciliary body
Ciliary Muscle
attaches to lens via zonular fibers, allows lens to focus
Iris
thin contractile diaphragm, lies on the lense, center aperture of iris is known as the pupis
Sphincter pupillae closes pupil
dilator pupillae opens pupil
Inner Layer of eye consists of:
retina, optic disc, macula lutea, fovea centralis
