psoas major
O-transverse process of lumbar vertebrae
I- strong tendon to lesser trochanter of femur
N- anterior rami of lumbar nerves
A- flexes thigh, flexes vertebral column laterally
Iliacus
O-superior 2/3 of illiac fossa, ala of sacrum, anterior sacroiliac ligament
I- lesser trochanter of femur, psoas major tendon
N- femoral nerve
A-flexes thigh, stabilizes hip jt
Quadratus Lumborum
O-12th ribs, tips of lumbr transverse processes
I- ilio;umbar ligament, internal lip of iliac crest
N- anterior branches from t12
A- extends and laterally flexes vertebral column
Obturator internus muscle
P: pelvic surfaces of ilium and ischium, obturator membrane
D: greater trochanter of femur
N: nerve to obturator internus (L5-S2)
A: ER femur, stabilize head of femur
Piriformis
P: pelvic surface of 2nd and 4th sacral segments, superior margin of greater sciatic notch, sacrotuberous
ligament
D: greater trochanter of femur
N: ventral rami of S1-2
A: ER, ABduct femur, stabilize head of femur
Levator Ani
Attachment: bpdy of pubis, obturator membrane, ischial spine, coccyx, walls of prostate or vagina, rectum, anal
Action:
raise pelvic floor/assisting in compressing abd contents (cough sneeze)
voluntary control of urination
Ischiococcygeus
O- ischial spine to coccyx and lower sacrum
I- small portion of pelvic floor
A- assists levator ani in supproting pelvix viscerca, flex coccyx
