Explanations for Forgetting Flashcards

1
Q

Why do we forget

A

COS THE PAIN IS TOO MUCH TO REMEMBER
Memory traces gradually decay over time
During any delay a memory is subject to the effects of time and interference from other experiences
Memories seem to be forgotten cos we no longer have the appropriate reminders (lack of rehearsal)
U r more likely to forget smth u didnt pay attention to when it originally happened
U r more likely to forget or get mixed up w similar pieces of material
