Exam 3: Structure And Function Of The Cardiovasular And Lymphatic Systems Flashcards
1
Q
Left anterior descending artery (LAD)
A
Supplies blood to much of the intraventricular septum and to portions of both ventricles.
2
Q
Troponin
A
A relaxing protein. When combined with tropomyosin, another relaxing protein, the two of them prevent myosin and actin from binding for a moment, and the myocardium relaxes.
3
Q
Left ventricle
A
Thicker muscle wall, because it pumps blood out to the rest of the body: head, arms, legs, trunk, everywhere except the lungs. It has to work hard because that is a high-pressure system.
4
Q
right ventricular wall
A
Thinner muscular wall, because it does not have to work very hard to pump blood to the long vessels, a low pressure system.
