Elbow and Forearm Joint Mobilization Flashcards
Review Image of Joints, for your enjoyment
What is the Resting (Open Packed Position) of the Elbow Joint?
Elbow Flexed to 70 degrees
Forearm Supinated to 10 degrees
What is the Treatment plane for the HUJ?
Treatment plane of the Angle of the Olecranon Fossa
45 degrees
What is HUJ Distraction used for? What is the angle of distraction?
Can be used for increasing flexion or extension
Mobilizing Force: 45 degrees angle to the shaft of the bone
What is HUJ distal glide used for?
Increasing Flexion
- First apply distraction force (at 45 degree angle), then direct force in a distal direction
What is the resting position/Open-packed position of the HRJ?
Max Extension + Supination
Treatment plane of the HRJ?
Concave radial head perpendicular to the long axis of the radius
What is HRJ Distraction used for?
Increasing mobility of the HRJ
- Can be used to manipulate a proximal displacement of the radius
What is the mobilizing force of HRJ Distraction
Pull the Radius Distally (Long-Axis Traction)
What are HRJ Dorsal Glides used for?
For increasing Elbow Extension
What are HRJ Volar Glides used for?
Increasing Elbow Flexion
What is the mobilizing force for HRJ Volar and Dorsal Glides?
Move radial head dorsaly with palm of your hand
Move radial head volarly with fingers
What is the Open Packed Position (resting position) of the PRUJ?
Elbow Flexion 70 degrees
Forearm Supination 35 degrees
What is the treatment plane of the PRUJ?
Radial notch of the ulna, parallel to the long axis of the ulna
What are PRUJ Dorsal glides used for?
Increase Pronation
