DNA Replication Flashcards
Processivity
Prokaryotic DNA
the ability of the enzyme to remain on its substrate during synthesis
Klenow fragment
Prokaryotic DNA
Result of 5’->3’ exonuclease activity
OriC
Origin of Replication Complex
Primosome and replisome assemble at origin of replication.
Primsome
contains primases, ligases, helicases, and other proteins, hat bind at Ori necessary to synthesize the primer
Replisome
contains the primosome as well as other molecules, lie single strand binding proteins Pol III and Pol I necessary for DNA replication
Replication process - prokaryotic
Replication begins at a single Ori and proceeds in opposite directions until the two replication forks meet and the components o replisome dissociate, ending the process.
Cell Cycle
G1, S, G2, M
DNA Recombination - types
Homologous - Meiosis
Conservative Site Specific - Insertion of bacteriophage DNA into bacterial genome
Transposition - Jumping DNA
Reverse transcriptase
Retrovirus genomes - information contained within RNA transferred to DNA
