Control Building HVAC Flashcards
What does the air washer in the OSA AHU do?
Uses a fine spray of water to cool incoming air to both the control room and the control building normal AHUs.
What is the radiation exposure limit that the HJ system is designed to limit?
Exposure in the control room complex to 5 REM whole body or it’s equivalent during the duration of the event.
When does the air washer pump start?
When either Normal AHU starts.
Where does makeup for the OSA AHU come from?
DS system water
What areas does the control room normal AHU supply?
120’ communications room
Inverter room
140’ level (control room complex)
What areas does the control building normal AHU supply?
Throughout the control building
Communications room
Inverter room
What will start the control room essential AHUs?
SIAS CSAS CRVIAS CREFAS LOP To supply conditioned air to the control room complex.
What starts the ESF switchgear essential AHUs?
SIAS
LOP
Furnish air to switchgear rooms, battery rooms, and remote shutdown rooms
What starts the ventilation essential exhaust fans?
SIAS or LOP
What starts the control building normal smoke exhaust fan?
The RO aligns the suction path and starts the fan.
What happens to the control room toilet and kitchen exhaust fans on a LOP, SIAS, CREFAS, or CRVIAS?
Discharge dampers close and fan stays running
What does the SQ system affect in the HJ system?
Rad monitors supply the CREFAS signal on high high radiation levels
What happens to the smoke removal system on a SIAS or LOP?
It is disabled
What interlocks are associated with the Control Room Normal AHU?
the ahu won’t start unless both discharge dampers are open and if either damper closes, the ahu will trip.
The dampers closing on the SIAS, LOP, CREFAS, or CRVIAS are what trips the AHU.
What components make up the ESF switchgear Normal AHU?
a cooling coil supplied by WC and a fan. A temperature controller regulates WC flow based on AHU outlet temperature
