CONTACT MAN Flashcards
What are the entry parameters for PWR-ON stalls? Airspeed? Pitch? Power? Bank?
Airspeed - as req
Pitch - Nose Low; 15-30, Nose High; 30-40
Power - 30-60% Torque
Bank - 0, but 20-30 degrees bank for turning P-O stalls.
When do you recover from a Power-On Stall?
When control effectiveness is lost; nose drop or unplanned rolling motion.
Which are the TP-stalls series maneuvers?
Break stall
Overshooting (Nose Low)
Undershooting (Nose high)
Landing attitude stall
How to do TP-Stall - Break stall?
PWR - 10%
Bank - 60 degrees
Midway increase bank and back-pressure
Recover by easing off back-pressure and adjusting bank.
How to do TP-Stall - Overshooting (Nose Low)?
Configure gear and Flaps LDG and 120 KIAS.
Establish the turn - then PWR idle and increase back-pressure.
Recover by simultaneously releasing back pressure to 15,5-18 AOA and go PCL to MAX - wings LVL.
Do not overspeed gear and flaps.
How to do TP-Stall - Underhooting (Nose High)?
Configure gear and Flaps LDG and 120 KIAS.
Establish the turn
Raise the nose - shallow bank - go PCL IDLE.
Recover by simultaneously releasing back pressure to 15,5-18 AOA and go PCL to MAX - wings LVL.
How to do TP-Stall - Landing Attitude?
Configure gear and Flaps LDG and 105-110 KIAS.
Go IDLE and do a round-out.
Recover by simultaneously releasing back pressure to 15,5-18 AOA and go PCL to MAX - wings LVL.
Which are the ELP-stalls series maneuvers?
4-6% torque
Clean from enroute to High key - no bank angle
Gear down + flaps UP + 30 bank angle between HIGH and LOW key
Gear Down + Flas T/O + 30 bank angle between LOW key and landing
How do you perform the ELP-stalls series?
Configure according to the three profiles.
Increase pitch so airspeed decreases.
Recover by lowering the nose at first indication of stall.
How do you “SLIP”?
Initiate a turn by banking - then apply opposite rudder…
How to do slow flight?
No Flap?
T/O flaps?
LDG flaps?
Configur with gear and flaps.
No flaps: 90-95 KIAS + 40% Torque
T/O flap: 85-90 KIAS + 45% Torque
LDG flap: 80-85 KIAS + app. 45% torque
What is the flight handling demonstration called that is used during Slow Flight?
SCATSAFE S - Straight and LVL C - Coordination A - Adverse Yaw T - Torque and turns S - Steep Turns A - Abrupt control inputs F - Flap retraction E - Effectiveness of controls
How to execute the Slow Flight demonstration - SCATSAFE?
S - fly straight and LVL
C - Turn with 15-20 degree bank
A - Turn without using the rudder
T - Add MAX torque without control inputs - recover
S - Turn at 60 degree bank - adding PWR
A - Slowly raise nose - at SHAKER abrupt pull to 20 NH
F - Retract flaps - no PWR change - recover at app to stall
E - rapidly move all 3 control surfaces - notice no effect
