CONS - Framing Flashcards
2 types of Wood Framing
- Light Framing
- Heavy Timber
2 types of Concrete Framing
- Monolithic
- Pre-Cast
2 types of Steel Framing
- Framed (Bolt)
- Welded Connections
the lightest form of wood framing; studs the corner posts are set up in continuous lengths from the first-floor line or sill to the roof plate
Balloon Frame
a kind of wood framing modification that consists of lighter timbers and less mortising and pinning to save material and labor
Combination Frame
a kind of wood framing where the ground and second floor level structures are supported by their respective platforms
Platform Frame
type of wood framing commonly used in the Philippines; floor joists are carried by girders, and the roof trusses or rafters are by girts which frame into posts
Heavy Wood Framing of Beam and Girder Framing
it can result in a relatively fast, precise construction of a structural frame; normally cut, shaped, and drilled in a fabrication shop according to design specifications
Structural Steel Framing
3 major types of framing systems:
- One-Way Beam System
- Two-Way Beam System
- Three-Way Beam System
a framing system that is suitable for long, narrow buildings, especially when a column-free space is desired
One-Way Beam System
a framing system where beams frame into girders increases floor depth considerably and provides more space for mechanical systems
Two-Way Beam System
a framing system that is used when a large column-free space is required with long-spanning plate girders or trusses can be used to carry the primary beam
Three-Way Beam System
