Coeliac trunk - lecture video Flashcards
What is the coeliac trunk a branch of?
1st major branch of abdo aorta
what are the 3 main branches?
1st: very torturous - to spleen (splenic artery) - left
2nd: common hepatic (right)
3rd: left gastric (left)
what is the anatomical position of the splenic artery?
posterior stomach, superior pancreas (gives off branches to the pancreas (body & tail)
what supplies the lesser curvature of the stomach?
left & right gastric artery (anastamoses)
where does the left gastric travel? what happens to it?
left gastric moves along lesser curvature of stomach
anastamoses with right gastric artery - which arises from proper hepatic artery (from common hepatic)
what does the coeliac trunk supply?
foregut
what does the splenic artery supply?
branches to stomach (short gastric), pancreas, spleen, left gastroepiploic (left gastro-omental) off greater curvature of stomach
where does the common hepatic artery travel?
towards liver
what does the common hepatic artery give off?
gastroduodenal artery (behind 1st part of duodenum)
what happens to the common hepatic artery after it has given off the gastroduodenal artery?
renamed as proper hepatic artery
what happens to the proper hepatic artery?
divides into left & right hepatic artery
what does the right hepatic artery give off? supplies?
cystic artery - to gallbladder
common hepatic, proper hepatic, right hepatic, cystic
where does the left gastric artery travel?
up & along lesser curvature of stomach
anastamose with right gastric (branch of proper hepatic, from common hepatic - post gastroduodenal)
what is the greater curvature of the stomach supplied by?
right & left gastroepiploic artery (gastro-omental artery)
which artery can gastric ulcers erode into?
common hepatic artery (from lesser curvature & antrum)
