They retreated to the king’s tennis courts.
Why is the tennis court important?
Because here they took the “Tennis Court Oath” swearing to uphold the fight for democracy and a new form of government for France
How did Louis finally respond to the National Assembly?
He first offered some democratic reforms, but these were refused, so he finally told the First and Second Estates they could join the National Assembly.
Why were the crowds in Versailles and Paris celebrating?
They felt their Revolution had been successful.
