How did Science create the Modern World?
New discoveries changed how people viewed the world.
Why is Copernicus important?
In 1543 Copernicus was the first European astronomer to challenge the sun revolving around the earth belief of the church. He could not prove this belief though
Why is Galileo important?
Galileo in 1632 was able to prove that Copernicus was correct.
What was Galileo’s discovery dangerous?
The church taught that the earth was the center of the universe and Galileo was challenging thousands of years of religious authority
Why is Sir Frances bacon important?
In 1620 he declared traditional science faulty and created what we now call the scientific method.
Why is Sir Isaac Newton important?
Newton discovered in 1660s the law of gravity to explain the universe.
Why was Newton’s discovery a huge breakthrough?
Suddenly people realized they did not need the church to explain how the mysteries of life.
Why were the inventions of new technologies important to scientific discoveries?
telescopes, microscopes, navigation devices etc all aided research, but also led to more discoveries, which led to the Industrial revolution.
