Extreme violence and it turned on those who organized the revolution but who wanted less than a full republic
What was a political club?
Since there were yet to be political parties, the people joined clubs to be with those who thought like they did
What did the political clubs do?
held meetings, published pamphlets, eventually they led to revolution

Girondists and Jacobin clubs
What did the Girondists believe?
they came from a Paris area called Gironde and were more moderate and were viewed as too conservative by the Jacobins
What did the Jacobins believe?
they met in the monastary of St. Jacques in Paris and were radical and were responsible for the Reign of Terror (violence)
Who won the power struggle between the Girondists and the Jacobins?
The Jacobins won
