Define Limited Government
A system in which the executive is subject to legal constraints and checks and balances within the political system
Define the term Constitution
The set of laws, rules and practices that create the basic institutions of the state and its component and related parts, and stipulate the powers of those institutions and the relationship between them and the inst and the individual
Define Constitutionalism
The theory and practice of gov according to the constitution
Define Codified Consitution
A single authoratative document that sets out the laws, rules and principles of how a state should be governed. Entrenched.
Define Uncodified Constitution
Laws, rules and principles are not gathered in a single document, and are found in a variety of sources
What does ‘Fundamental Law’ mean?
The law which forms the basis of the government of the state
Define Judicial Review
The power of senior judges to review the actions of government and public authorities, declaring them unlawful if they have exceeded their authority
