battle of saratoga
battle of saratoga was the turning point of the war and saratoga campaign. america won a military alliance with france.
Continental money
a financial crisis from the patriot government. some states created bonds, but they failed due to the war so they started paper money.
Valley Forge
where washington’s army has retreated to from philadelphia. the winter killed thousands, so von steubon created a strict plan that made them become tougher.
Baron von Steuben
he created the plan to make Washington’s army tougher, this helped them win the war and be more aware of what they had ahead of them.
France and Colonies in cahoots
due to the rebel vitory in saratoga the french wanted to join america to defeat the british, so they worked together.
Battle of Yorktown
battle where the americans and french won over the british in 1781. this resolved the government issue.
women, loyalists, native americans, and slaves
the war caused many financial issues for the loyalist. the once the war ended land to the native americans were known as the barriers of natural advantages.
Articles of Confederation
approved by continental congress by november 1777. important because they held the loose union and rules for each state.
weakness: no chief executive or judiciary
ratification: 1781 because of conflict over western land
Land Ordinance of 1785
grid system that price $1 and acre. this restricted farmers from getting more land.
Northwest ordinance of 1787
created territories which became ohio, indiana, illinois, michigan, and wisconsiin. this did not allow slavery and it encouraged school.
Shays’ Rebellion
american resistance to british stamp act. samuel adams made the radicals stop by making the riot act and shays army dispersed during the winter.
