Slave trade- 1808
Slavery contradicted republican principles so Madison and mason supported an end to American participation in slavery
3/5 compromise
In the constitution slaves were no included but southerners knew them as property so they demanded that they be counted as citizens in the census to increase south representation, so the delegates agreed that one slave would be counted at 3/5 of a free person
Federalist / anti- federalists
Federalists supported federal union and Anti-Feds did not support the federal union.
Feds were more on the loose decentralized system

Madison, Jay, and Hamilton defended the constitution in 85 essays. Influenced political leaders throughout the country
Whiskey rebellion
Rebellion against hamiltons excuse tax that cut demands on corn whiskey. Similar to sons of Liberty they rebelled and Washington sent 12000 troops to disperse them

Great Compromise
Gave confederacy power to raise revenue. Because of all the problems the plan had caused they created the great compromise which meant having two senates for each state
