Harlem Renaissance
cultural, social, and artistic explosion that took place in Harlem between the end of World War I and the middle of the 1930s. During this period Harlem was a cultural center, drawing black writers, artists, musicians, photographers, poets, and scholars.
Zora Neale Hurston
American novelist, short story writer, folklorist, and anthropologist. Of Hurston’s four novels and more than 50 published short stories, plays, and essays, she is best known for her 1937 novel Their Eyes Were Watching God

jazz was the most important thing from the harlem renaissance. Louis Armstrong was a native of new orleans who learned how to play in saloons and soon became a soloist

UNIA was led y marcus garvey to mobilize African American workers and champion black separatism, he urged people to move to Africa arguing that they would never be treated right in america
