what are lipids used for in the body
-made of C, H, & O.
-They are very energy (calorie) dense.
-They are triglycerides, phospholipids, and sterols.
-provide energy, store energy, insulate body, transport proteins, cell membrane structure, absorb fat-soluble nutrients
what are the major food sources of fat?
-animal sources = dairy (cheese), eggs, meat, poultry, fish
-processed plant sources = cookie, candy, chips, oil, shortening, cake, crackers, whole grains
-unprocessed plant foods = olives, avocados, nuts and seeds
