Chapter 29 Flashcards
What is evaluation
The process of systematically collecting data that inform us about what it is like for a particular group of users to use a product for a particular task in a certain type of environment.
What are 2 types of data gathered for evaluation
- Qualitative (derived from qualitative research techniques, based upon opinions and observations)
- Quantitative (based upon numbers)
What is heart of HCI
Evaluation
What is time to market
The time it takes to release the product into market
What are 4 core evaluation paradigms/types
- Quick and dirty
- Usability testing
- Field studies
- Predictive evaluation
What is Quick and dirty evaluation paradigm
In this method developers and designers get informal feedback from users.
What is Usability testing evaluation paradigm
It is a formal technique. We give user questionnaires and tasks to gather data.
What is Field studies evaluation paradigm
We go to fields/offices in it and observe them while working
What is Predictive/heuristic evaluation technique/expert review
Use of design principles for evaluation
What are 5 techniques of interaction paradigm
- Observing users
- Asking users
- Asking experts
- Testing user performance
- Modelling user task performance
What are various techniques to modelling the performance of user
- Gooms technique
