What is Alopecia?
- the absence of hair where it normally grows
Is Alopecia an autoimmune disease?
- Yes, it is an autoimmune disease in which hair falls out in patches
What is Ecchymosis?
- blue-black marks on the skin
What causes Ecchymosis?
- usually caused by an injury, such as a bump, blow, or fall
What does Ecchymosis impact may cause?
- a blood vessel to burst open leaking blood under the skin, creating a bruise.
How is ecchymosis treated?
- Medication for pain
- Apply ice
- Elevated the area
- Rest
What is Petechiae?
- small pinpoint hemorrhage
How is Petechiae cause?
- may be caused by any of a number of fungal, viral and bacterial infections
What is pruritus?
- Itching
How is pruritus cause?
- From hair regrowth, sunburns, insect bites, dry skin, or healing wounds
Who is more common to having pruritus?
- older adults
What is purpura- Purpura refer to?
- purple-colored spots that are most recognizable on the skin
What is another name for purpura- Purpura?
- blood spots or skin hemorrhages
Where on the body can purpura- Purpura also appear?
- The spots may also appear on organs or mucous membranes, including the membranes on the inside of the mouth
How is Purpura occur?
- when small blood vessels burst, causing blood to pool under the skin
What is Urticaria?
- an acute allergic reaction with red, round wheals on the skin
What is another name for Urticaria?
- Hives
Symptoms of Urticaria?
- an outbreak of swollen, pale red bumps or plaques (wheals) on the skin that appear suddenly.
- Hives usually cause itching, but may also burn or sting
How is Urticaria cause?
- either as a result of the body’s reaction to certain allergens, or for unknown reasons
What is Acne?
- papular and pustular eruption of skin with increased production of sebum – oily skin
What is Cellulitis?
- a diffuse acute infection of the skin
What is Atopic dermatitis?
- inflammation of the skin with erythematous and papulovesicular lesions caused by allergy
What is another name for Atopic Dermatitis?
- Eczema
What is Exanthematous Viral Diseases?
- a rash due to virus

- Rubella
What is Gangrene?
- the death of tissue with loss of blood supply
