What is Atelectasis?
– collapsed lung, incomplete expansion of the alveoli
What is Emphysema?
– hyperinflation of air sacs with destruction of alveolar walls.
What is Lung cancer?
– malignant tumor of the lungs and bronchi
What is Pneumoconiosis?
– abnormal lung condition caused by exposure to certain dusts, with chronic inflammation, infection and bronchitis.
- Dust particles inhaled anthracosis (coal) dust, asbestosis and silicosis.
What is Pneumonia?
– acute inflammation of infection of the alveoli, which fill with pus
What is Pulmonary abscess?
– large collection of pus (bacterial infection) in the lungs.
What is Pulmonary edema?
– fluid in the air sacs and bronchioles.
What is Pulmonary embolism (PE)?
– clot or other material lodges in the vessels of the lung
What is Pulmonary fibrosis?
– formation of scar tissue in the connective tissue of the lungs
What is Sarcoidosis?
– chronic inflammatory disease in which small nodules develop in the lungs, lymph nodes and other organs
What is Tuberculosis (TB)?
– infectious disease caused by mycobacterium tuberculosis. A PPD test is used in a tuberculin test
