Q

How many cusps/flats does the Tricuspid valve got?

And what does this allows?

A
  • It’s got 3 cusps/flats of the valves

- this allows the blood to flow into the lower chamber of the heart the Right ventricle

Q

What is the Right Atrium?

What does it do?

A
  • Upper right chamber of the heart.

- The right atrium contracts and pushes the blood through the Tricuspid valve

Q

What doe the Right Ventricle do?

A

once the blood enters the right ventricle, with the contraction of the heart, the oxygen poor blood pumps through, the Pulmonary valve into the Pulmonary artery

Q

What is Pulmonary Artery?

A
  • Carries oxygen poor blood to the lungs into the lung capillaries, where the blood loses it carbon dioxide into the lung tissue, and then is exhaled through the lungs.
  • At the same time oxygen enters into the capillaries of the lungs and is brought back to the heart via the Pulmonary veins

Q

What is the Left Atrium?

A

Contracts to force the oxygenated blood through the Mitral valve (bicuspid, or 2 cuspid/flats) into the Left ventricle

Q

What is the Left Ventricle?

What does it do?

A
  • Has the thickest walls of the four chambers because it has to pump the blood with great force, so that the blood travels through arteries to all parts of the body.
  • The left ventricle propels the blood through the Aortic valve into the Aorta
