Ch. 3 Principles of design Flashcards
The arrangement of elements in a composition to achieve visual equilibrium this is important an interior design because every interior is composed of a white variety of forms, shapes, colors, lines, patterns, texture, and light.
Balance
What is the balance point called
Fulcrum
Consist of identical elements arranged equally about a common access. This is also called by symmetrical, bilateral, or axial symmetry
Symmetrical balance
Depends on equalizing the visual, or optical, weights of non-similar elements in a composition within a visual field or about a common access. This is generally considered informal and dynamic
Asymmetrical balance
Type of symmetrical balance in which elements are arranged uniformly about a central point
Radial balance
Is the agreement of the parts to each other into the hole. It is often one of the most difficult design principles to apply because there are no fixed roles and because it includes the opposing concepts of unity or variety and rhythm and emphasis
Harmony
One of the most powerful design principles, which is the repetition of elements in a regular pattern.
Rhythm
And important type of rhythm where the size, color, or value of design elements are gradually modified as the elements repeat
Graduation
The juxtaposition or just similar elements, is necessary condition of life. Black does not exist without white, left without Wright. This is the way we perceive the difference between things, create importance, and add interest in variety to environment
Contrast
What is the brightness ratio for critical visual tasks
3:1
What is the brightness ratio of the maximum brightness recommended between the task in the surrounding surface of the room
5:1
The relationship between one part of an object or composition in another part and to the hole, or between one element in another
Proportion
Hey single line is divided into two equal segments such that the ratio of the smaller part is equal to the larger part is the larger part is to the whole
The golden ratio
Loosely based on the golden section but uses the human body as a starting point
Modular system
