The measurement or quantification of a variable or the placement of a value on something
Assessment
The increase of signs and symptoms in the immediate area of the lesion
Centralization
The specific process reversed solely for the PT, in which clinical judgements are made based on the data obtained during the examination
Evaluation
The preliminary gathering of data and performing various screens, tests, and measures to obtain a comprehensive base from which to make decisions about physical therapy needs for each individual patient, including the possibility of referral to another health care provider
Examination
The spread of pain to areas outside of or distant from the immediate areas of involvement
Peripheralization
Pain that is felt in an area from the site of the lesion, but supplied by the same or adjacent neural segments
Referred Pain
Small, localized tender areas found within skeletal muscles, fascia, tendons, ligaments, periosteum, and pericapsular areas
Trigger Points
Pain that originates from a body organ
Visceral Pain
