•Do Nurse Practice Act laws, rules, or regulations restrict delegation in a given situation?
•Do organizational policies support delegation in a given situation?
•Does the delegatee have sufficient knowledge and skill to carry out an intended delegation?
•Is the delegator authorized to delegate certain tasks?
•Is the delegator familiar with the KSAs (knowledge, skills, ability) of the delegatee to delegate safely?
•Does the patient’s condition influence a normal decision-making process? If so, how?
•Does the delegatee know the untoward signs and symptoms for a specific patient in a specific situation?
•Will supervision be readily available?
hersey’s model: leaders and managers need to behave differently in different situtations. Nurses must analyze an individual’s knowledge and the work-related task before delegating.
