Long Term Economic/Social causes of the 1905 Revolutions?
A
- Emergence of a new social class (kulaks) –> Wanted more power –> Militancy evident in strikes throughout 1890
- Economic depression: Series of poor harvests (1897-1901) –> Unemployment + Death (1 million people)
- Economic slump in ‘02 + International monetary crisis –> difficulties in negotiating FI + tax income at home declined
- EG was declining (only 1%) in ‘99
