Features of campylobacter

A
  • prodrome: headache malaise
  • diarrhoea: often bloody
  • abdo pain: may mimic appendicitis

Management of campylobacter

A
  • usually self-limiting
  • only Tx if severe infection or patient immunocompromised

Antibiotics if severe:
- high fever
- bloody diarrhoea
- >8 stools per day

clarithromycin/ ciprofloxacin
