A
faecal-oral route

Incubation period
A
1-6 days

Features of campylobacter
A
- prodrome: headache malaise
- diarrhoea: often bloody
- abdo pain: may mimic appendicitis

Management of campylobacter
A
- usually self-limiting
- only Tx if severe infection or patient immunocompromised
Antibiotics if severe:
- high fever
- bloody diarrhoea
- >8 stools per day
clarithromycin/ ciprofloxacin

A
Guillain-Barre syndrome
reactive arthritis
septicaemia
endocarditis
