Nitrofurantoin
A
Similar chemical structure to nitroimidazoles. Weak, bacteriostatic property
Good absorption, rapid renal excretion —> acts only in the urinary tract
Used as an urinary antiseptic

Fosfomycin
A
Inhibits a very early stage of cell wall synthesis. G6P promotes its transport into the bacterium, so it’s needed in the environment (hemolysis)
Gram pos ans gram neg, mostly S. aureus hemolyticus
Exanthemas, enzyme elevations, headaches
