BISP CH 5 REF 11.3 Flashcards
Currently the new RBIS system is
Unable to track the theatre inspections automatically therefore a list of theaters requiring inspections MUST be maintained at the company level
Regarding BC inspections in places of public assembly within their admin district it would be correct to make the following statements
- Inspections shall be conducted semi annually in those places of assembly that have more than 500 occupants and present live theatrical productions
- These inspections shall be conducted by the BC’s while the premises is open to the public
- All these inspections by the BC’s shall be made unannounced
Divisions may use surplus officers to perform unannounced inspections of any assembly occupancies with an occupant load of
75 or more persons
Surplus officers conducting special inspections should file the inspectional form in a
Special Inspection File in the ADMINISTRATIVE DIVISION and a COPY should be forwarded to the administrative FIRE UNIT
Any assembly occupancies presenting live theatrical performances and having an occupant load of 501 or more persons should be inspected by the
Administrative fire unit PRIOR to the 1st performance of the new show. The unit shall prepare and forward the IF-7 to the Chief of Fire Prevention upon completion of such inspection with appropriate endorsements. This may be varied in occupancies which ROUTINELY present “limited engagement shows”, (shows lasting a month or less)
The 1st pre-opening inspection of the calendar year will serve as the
Annual BISP inspection for that year
IF-7 sent to Chief of Fire Prevention
Copy of IF-7 filed in building folder at company level
If additional pre-opening inspections are required
- Send IF-7 to Chief of Fire Prevention
- Copy kept in building folder
- Units will be notified by FIRE PREVENTION when these inspections are required

1/2 hour before scheduled performances Logbook should be inspected if required Scenery and decorations must be fire retardant Backstage areas inspected Fire protection system records inspected
