- Transversa cubiti
Primary veins of the forelimb
- V. cephalica
- V. axillaris
- V. brachialis
- V. omobrachialis (ca)
- V. axillobrachialis
Superficial venous system consists of
- V. cephalica
- V. omobrachialis connected to the deep by V. mediana cubiti
- V. axillobrachialis
V. cephalica
- Generally arises from the external jugular vein
Dog: Has always a second vein of origin, the v. omobrachialis, which branches from the external jugular further cranially
V. axillobrachialis: Additional lateral link between the cephalic vein and the caudal circumflex humeral vein in ca
Branches
V. mediana cubiti (V. brachialis)
V. axillaris
- Arises from the subclavian at the cranial border of the first rib, then runs (medial to the axillary artery) towards the shoulder joint
Su: 2 axillary veins, one running proximally and the other distally to the axillary artery
Branches: Mainly ramifies in the pectoral musculature, one branch running between the superficial and deep pectorals and another distal to the deep pectoral
V. thoracica lateralis Absent in ru and eq Runs in a caudal direction, and for a variable distance along the thoracic wall
- V. suprascapularis
- V.subscapularis
- V. thoracodorsalis
- V. circumflexa humeri cranialis
V. brachialis
- V. profunda branch
- V. collateralis ulnaris
- V. brachialis superficialis (ca)
- V. bicipitialis
- V. transversa cubiti
