What does FSH do?
causes egg to mature in ovary
What does oestrogen do?
repairs and thickens uterus lining
What does LH do?
triggers ovulation
What does progesterone do?
maintains uterus lining
The menstrual cycle (interaction of hormones)
-FSH (produced by pituitary gland) causes egg to mature and stimulates ovaries to releases oestrogen
-oestrogen (produced by ovaries) inhibits FSH, thickens uterus lining and stimulates pituitary gland to release LH
-LH (produced by pituitary gland) triggers ovulation
-progesterone ( produced by follicle released by ovaries) maintains lining of uterus
