What is an activity?

What is a constraint?
Control or restriction that governs when or how activities are done.
What is a critical path?
The best path of activities that will create logical order & allow the project to be completed in the shortest time.
Why is scheduling important enough to use Gantt charts and critical path method network diagrams?
When projects cost millions, delays can cause large amounts of $ in interest charges & tenants may be delayed from moving in, affecting revenue.
What is lead time?
Amount of time needed from ordering material until they arrive on site. Also, the amount of time sub-trade may need to be notified in advance when they will be available.
What are the possible problems with having materials delivered before they are needed?
They may get in the way.

The best path of activities that will create a logical order and allow the project to be completed in the shortest timeframe.
Define float:
Amount of time that en event can be postponed without delaying the date for the completion of the project.
Network:
graphical representation of the project showing the relationships between activities.
What should you consider when scheduling deliveries of materials?
Instead of having all framing materials arrive at once, split them into two loads, the first for the crawlspace framing and main floor level, and the second for the floor level and roof framing.
What is procurement?
Procurement is the process obtaining goods and services for the project.
What materials require lead time?
Trusses, windows, doors and specialty wood products, custom cut beams and even concrete and lumber when the local industry is running at a fast pace.
