ARTHROMETRIC EXAM Flashcards
what does the arthrometric exam find?
the first ray will have more motion plantarly than dorsally
-should be equal amounts of dorsiflexion and plantarflexion
what tests can be used?
how is it used?
Coleman block test
patient stands on book w/ entire foot on surface of bool and observe if the STJ is supinated
then,
repeat again, except have the 1st ray over the edge of the book and if the STJ remains supinated you have the rigid forefoot valgus or global cavus foot
name this test?
a way to diagnose rigidly plantar flexed 1st ray vs rigid forefoot valgus or global cavus foot
Coleman block test
describe the pedal pathology?
similar to cavus foot where we see contracted digits secondary to plantar flexed mets altering mechanical advantage of intrinsic and extrinsic muscles
calluses sub 1 and 5 secondary to increased weight bearing by these two areas during gait cycle
what would the radiograph pick up?
like cavus foot:
plantar flexed 1st ray relative to neck of talus on lateral radiographs
increased calcaneal inclination angle
posterior break in cyma line
decrease in talocalcaneal angle
