ARM SWING Flashcards
what are the planes examined for arm swing?
frontal plane
sagittal plane
transverse plane
what are the considerations for frontal plane examination? indicates?
arm swing should be symmetrical
one arm should not swing differently from the other
-indcates balance problem or possible neurologic manifestation
what are the considerations for sagittal plane examination?
symmetrical arm swing
normal arm swing is 2/3 anterior to a line representing the frontal plane through the body and 1/3 posterior to that line
what are the considerations for transverse plane examination?
symmetrical arm swing
should rotate with the same shoulder and opposite hip
-as right leg extends for heel contact, left arm should swing forward
