ANVIS System Flashcards
How do you know that the NVG battery is getting low and what are your actions?
AED light will shine on the inside of the goggles
You must switch to the secondary battery compartment within 5 mins
Note: will last an hour once light goes red
What is the FOV for the ANVIS?
40º
At what point in the departure does the crew goggle up and how is this communicated?
Typically before the pre hover checks
- “Crew Goggle Up”
During a test of the battery pack, the red warning light flashes, what does this mean?
Means that the primary/secondary system doesn’t work properly and must be checked
What are the minimum low light readings when using the Hoffman?
Grey scale: 1-5
Resolution: 20/40
List the unacceptable NVG issues and what they look like:
Shading: Dark shadows around the edges
Edge glow: Bright shadows around the edges
Flashing/flickerin
Bright spots/emission points: spots of light seen when hand over goggles
Veiling glare: lines/patches of bright light
List some NVG faults that ARE acceptable:
Black spots: acceptable unless impacts vision
Image distortion: image bends in high light environments
Image disparity: left/right sides are different brightness
Fixed pattern noise: hexagonal shapes
Chicken wire: strips of hexagonal/square lines at edge of goggles
What is relative motion drift?
Mistaking movement of other objects as own aircraft drift
What is part of the after use servicing?
Cleaning the NVG as req
At what point does the sun descend below the horizon as to not impact NVGs?
Nautical twilight
If the low battery indicator flashes during flight, how long do you have until the batteries run out?
1 hour
What are the crew duty limits for NVG use?
No more than 5 hours of NVG per duty period
