What is ankylosing sponylitis ?

A

Ankylosing means the bones have fused together so theres stiffness.

Chronic systemic inflammatory disease – affects axial skeleton

May have extra-skeletal manifestations

Starts in late teens/ early 20’s (10 % FH)

Onset of back pain often slow and insidious
