634 Loss of Compressor (64-EOP-5002) Flashcards
OPER/CCR - 1.1.1 - ESTABLISH radio contact between Console Operator and Outside Operators.
OPER - 1.1.2 - NOTIFY the following of loss of the Makeup and Recycle Compressor:
- Shift Supervisor
- Chief Operator
Alert Information
If the Compressor shuts down due to a high liquid level in the suction drum, ENSURE that the suction drum and Compressor case is drained to the minimum, and the issue that caused the high level has been corrected.
OPER - 1.1.3 - PERFORM 64-EOP-5001 Emergency Shutdown.
IF the loss of compressor is due to an issue that requires the compressor to be isolated and depressurized
REDUCE feed rate to minimum once the compressor shuts down.
OPER - 1.1.5 - ENSURE the Heater 634F0001, Reactor Feed Heater SIS has activated automatically isolating the Fuel Gas to the burners or by TRIPPING manually.
OPER - 1.1.6 - CHECK the Shutdown Summary screen on the PLC for indication of the cause of the shutdown:
- Levels, Pressures, Temps, Seal Leakage, Thrust
OPER - 1.1.7 - ATTEMPT to restart the compressor following the steps below:
OPER/CCR - A - DETERMINE cause of shutdown and correct
OPER - B - PERFORM the following if compressor was shutdown because of high level in one of the Knockout Drums:
1 CORRECT issue that caused the KO drum to fill
2 CHECK compressor case drains for liquid entrapment
3 CHECK the KO drums for high level and drain as needed
OPER - C - VERIFY that all permissives have been met, and alarms are clear:
CCR - D - PLACE 64PC4913, Performance Controller on the Fluid Drive in “MANUAL” @ 0% Output
OPER - 1.1.8 - If the cause of the shutdown can be resolved within 10 minutes of the compressor shutdown,
Perform the following:
CCR - A - REDUCE 634 Unit pressure to ~730 psig by lowering 64PC0010, Compressor Suction Pressure Controller set point or place 64 PC0010, Compressor Suction Pressure Controller in “MANUAL” mode and slightly open.
CCR - B - Monitor 634 Unit pressure using 64PC0007, Unit Pressure Controller.
OPER - C - PUSH 64HS6412, Hydrogen Compressor Shutdown Reset Button located on the PLC and Bently Nevada to reset the compressor shutdown.
CCR - D - ENSURE that 64PC4913S, Performance Controller is placed in manual and set at 10%
OPER - E - VERIFY the level in the Amine Contactor if they shutdown was due to a high level in 634D0004, Recycle KO Drum
OPER - F - PUSH 64HS6402A, Hydrogen Compressor Start Button located on the PLC to start the compressor
CCR - G - VERIFY <120scfm and >30scfm gas flow to the inboard seal using 64FI6004, Primary Process (H2) Inboard Seal Gas Flow Indicator located on the PLC Dry Gas Seal screen.
CCR - H - VERIFY <120scfm and >30scfm gas flow to the inboard seal gas using 64FI6005, Primary Process (H2) Outboard Seal Gas Flow Indicators located on the PLC Dry Gas Seal screen
OPER - I - CHECK the PLC for any alarms on the compressor and clear as needed
OPER - J - LISTEN carefully for unusual noises, or vibration. If any of these conditions occur, shut-dow the compressor and notify the Rotating Engineer
OPER - K - VERIFY that oil is flowing freely in all sigh glasses, with the exception of the coupling guard drain line
CCR - L - INCREASE compressor RPM using the Performance Controller on the Fluid Drive to the lower operating range and place in “AUTO”
CCR - M - PLACE the Performance Controller on the Fluid Drive in “MANUAL”
CCR - N - QUICKLY INCREASE the compressor RPM through the critical speed area (4500 rpm - 8959 rpm) to the upper RPM range
CCR - O - PLACE the Performance Controller on the Fluid Drive in “AUTO” and adjust to the desired gas flow
CCR - P - ADJUST 64PC0010, Compressor Pressure Controller to maintain 690-720 psig
CCR - Q - RESET 634F001, Reactor Heater SIS and place heater in service
R - INCREASE 634 F0001, Reactor Feed Heater firing rate
